Aiming to paint an interesting D&D model every month, I chose the Gelatinous Cube from Dungeons & Dragons Nolzur’s Marvelous Miniatures for January. Which is a quick paint job as most of the model is see through allowing me to focus on doing the Necron army.
The cube itself is a translucent cube while the inside piece is mostly translucent with bones, shield, dagger, sword and axe. The paintable pieces are primed, roughly, ready to paint.
The bones where painted with wraithbone then skeleton horde contrast. The weapons got leadbelcher / dryad bark / screamer pink then washed with skeleton horde to dirty them. Then chucked it under the cube to see how visible the paint is.
So the paint is visible through the cube but any further details are likely to be lost unless its a strong contrast. So may add some white highlights to imply light coming in from the top of the cube. There is a hole in the middle so you can fit the D&D scale character minis in the centre as well, which I have in the D&D board games.
